Remember your first Christmas? The magic and wonder you felt, family and friends. The smell of fresh pine in the air, turkey roasting in the oven, families sitting around the fireplace enjoying this very special time of year. It is a time of togetherness and celebration. We have all experienced it, and each year look forward to this wonderful season. Unfortunately not every child has a holiday season so memorable, many have not! One little girl had a dream to experience this wonder and magic. Sadly, there was no holiday magic; there was no money for gifts or a family meal. She had to stand in line for hours to receive support in order to feed her family. Once grown up, she vowed that no child in her community would ever have to face the holiday season without that special magic and wonder; the feeling of belonging, the full experience of the holiday season, including a holiday dinner, gifts and togetherness. Twelve years ago, Lorraine Anderson started Miracle on Church Street for Tucson's under privileged children. The first year, 1995, 300 children came with their families for a visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus, gifts and bags full of goodies and educational toys. Last year, more than 4,000 children with their families joined Lorraine for this very special holiday event. Because of the success and growth of this
event we now have the children of need chosen by different Tucson School Districts, Churches and Agencies.
The event itself has also changed to a sit-down all FREE holiday dinner with all the fixings that these
children of need would not otherwise have and enjoy along with their parents, guardians or others.
MOCS ( Miracle on Church Street) to date has served over 50,000 of these needy children
and the change in the program has proven very successful.
Because of the cost of this "Holiday Dinner" we need your help and donations
to keep this program for these underprivileged children and we THANK YOU for CARING. |
